With reference to your No. 24/25/96 (Confidential) of yesterday's date, I have the honour to forward herewith a photograph of Dr. Groster and his wife which reached me some time ago.
Dr. Groster is tall and fair with full curled hair, slightly grey at the tips, and wears pince-nez glasses. He has a very pleasant and prepossessing manner and is evidently accustomed to good society. I believe he has a brother who occupies a high position in the German Government, whose name is ... (possibly "Paulinas" or some similar name). There are some Germans who live in this neighbourhood but who are unacquainted with Dr. Groster himself.
As time may be of consequence, and the Cape mail closing this evening, I send this despatch by messenger.
